Brief Description:
Business Mentorship Program's objective is to help immigrant entrepreneurs who are starting up or expanding their businesses to overcome difficulties in such business areas as accounting, business plan development, financing, import & export, marketing & sales and operations management, etc. Volunteer mentors are professionals with business experience and education from various fields such as accounting, marketing, business consulting, financial management, operations management and small business management. Established business owners are also welcome to become mentors providing support to business starters.
Nature: Continues, 1-2 hours per month, for 3 months with each mentee
Duties:
1. Provide guidance, support and encouragement to clients related to their specific area of interest
2. Share experience and knowledge of Canadian business culture and practices
3. Commit for a three month period with each mentee
4. Meet each mentee 1 or 2 times per month for an hour to provide guidance with the issues the mentee needs help with
5. Meet each mentee either at S.U.C.C.E.S.S. West Broadway office or a commercial location
6. Complete and submit meeting follow-up form and evaluation form as required
Qualifications:
1. Professionals - Recognized qualifications and a minimum of two years' experience in related business area
2. Business Owners - Business with steady operations for a minimum of two years
3. Interest in entrepreneurs from other countries and other cultures
4. Good knowledge of Canadian business environment and culture
Duration: Long term service
