Title: Adult Day Centre Volunteer (Richmond)
Nature: Two hours weekly long term service
Duties:
-To work with our Chinese speaking clients assisting with our Mahjong, games and craft programs as well as providing translation and general socialization/conversation. The clientele are frail elderly, disabled adults and clients with cognitive decline
-Under the direction of the Activity staff, the volunteers will facilitate and assist clients playing mahjong, assist with very simple craft and games programs, such as puzzles and Chinese checkers.
Qualifications: Ability to converse in English and Cantonese and/or Mandarin.
Desire to work with frail elderly; working knowledge of mahjong is an asset. Willingness to engage in conversation and socialization with the clients
Duration: Hours of work; preferably one day per week, Mondays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays for 1-2 hours between 10 am-12 noon. Volunteers are welcome to join us for lunch at noon if they choose.
