Title: Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions Leader
Nature:
Generally, four days of training and a minimum commitment of conducting one workshop with six sessions are required.
Duties:
S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions is recruiting bilingual (Chinese and English speaking) volunteers to undergo four days of training conducted by the University of Victoria – Centre on Aging. The training will take place in Vancouver or Richmond. After training, the volunteers will be capable of providing important information about Chronic Diseases to the Chinese speaking community members through different workshops. Each workshop will include six sessions and a “Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions” textbook will be distributed during the workshops. This program will help many people who suffer with chronic conditions to improve their quality of life.
Qualifications:
If you enjoy working with seniors and have the passion to help them fight against Chronic Conditions, then you are the person we are looking for.
Excellent communication skills and fluency in English and Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin) is an asset for this position. Able to work independently as well as in a team environment with professional in manner is required. Through the training, volunteers will learn information about Chronic Conditions and how to conduct a workshop. This would strengthen their presentation skills and build their self-confidence. We will provide continuous support and make every effort to ensure that volunteer achievements and contributions are recognized and rewarded.
Orientation or Training:
Four days of training conducted by the University of Victoria – Centre on Aging.
